SCMEP to Hold SC Energy Symposium for Manufacturers
COLUMBIA, SC – August 30, 2006 – The South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP) will sponsor an energy symposium October 16 for energy-intensive companies located in South Carolina. The Energy Symposium is partially funded through a grant provided by the U.S. Department of Energy (USDOE) and is part of SCMEP’s Industries of the Future Program (IOF). The goal of the Symposium is to increase awareness for the state’s industrial plants and manufacturers about how to improve energy efficiency in their facilities and how the IOF program is available to help them. The Energy Symposium will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Columbia.
Through the IOF program, which has been in existence in South Carolina for a few years, SCMEP has already been providing access to training on USDOE’s software tools and energy management best practices, conducting industrial systems and plant assessments to identify opportunities for energy savings, and performing follow-up services with manufacturers to facilitate the implementation of energy-saving strategies.
The Energy Symposium will feature national as well as local speakers discussing energy efficiency, cost containment strategies and opportunities for funding energy-related technologies in manufacturing operations. Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) and Keith McCoy, vice president of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), will be featured speakers. The full agenda as well as registration information may be viewed at www.energysc.org
For Symposium registration, contact Donna Croom of 360 Meetings & Events at (803) 749-9011 or 360meetings@bellsouth.net. The one-day symposium costs $75 and includes breakfast and lunch.
