Diversity-based Manufacturing
The SCMEP is positioned to meet the diversity needs of the private sector and the small, disadvantaged business (SDB) needs of the public sector. We have programs to support the creation and growth of manufacturers that can supply Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) and public sector needs, particularly the Defense Supply Chain. We understand and have capabilities to develop diversity in private sector supply chains, and to facilitate the defense or public procurement process.
Rural Development Program
The SCMEP is actively pursuing the mission of strengthening the global competitiveness of South Carolina Manufacturers through focusing of companies that would otherwise not have access to technology, modernization resources and solutions. The SCMEP works to accomplish this mission by utilizing the extensive partnership and existing grants.
The Rural Development approach is to make available the technical expertise required to assess and assist minority manufacturers for improvements and to gain access to the existing supply chain of larger manufacturers. The SCMEP with its manufacturing specialists, technical specialists, private consultants and public resources can provide the assistance needed for improvement and competitiveness. Additionally the SCMEP can serve as a resource for referral and access to general assistance in all areas of business operations.
The SCMEP has worked with grants from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) used to develop small and emerging private business enterprises in rural areas. The SCMEP provides technical assistance to these minority companies. The SCMEP continues to work with USDA and apply for additional grants. For further information regarding this program and/or how the SCMEP may be helpful to your manufacturing company in terms of supplier diversity, contact your local SCMEP Field Agent. |
