Board of Directors

The Board of Directors for SCMEP is a fiduciary board that meets quarterly to guide and direct the implementation of the Center’s mission.

H. Henry Puckhaber, Chairman
BellSouth (retired)

  • 36 years with BellSouth Telecommunications in South Carolina, New York and Atlanta directing the deployment of telecommunications facilities and leading the development and implementation of large-scale computer systems
  • Registered Professional Engineer and member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers

 
John M. Meister, Secretary
Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies (retired)

  • Executive VP for Transit Products, manufacturers of HVAC and automatic door equipment for passenger trains and buses
  • Previously with Westinghouse Electric, working in engineering, marketing and general management
  • 18 years with Westinghouse, the last 16 in South Carolina

Christian E. G. Przirembel, Ph.D., Treasurer
Clemson University

  • VP for Research at Clemson
  • Background at Clemson includes Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies (1994-2001) and Acting Dean (1996-97), both for the College of Engineering and Science, and Professor and Head of Mechanical Engineering (1981-1994)
  • 14 years at Rutgers including post as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (1977-1981)

Charles A. "Chuck" Bundy, Jr.
South Carolina Department of Commerce

  • 16 years with the SC Department of Commerce, currently as Small Business Ombudsman and Senior Manager of the Business Solutions Division
  • Responsible for overseeing existing business and outreach designed to increase the competitiveness of SC businesses 

Dr. Ben P. Dillard, III
Greenville Technical College

  • Senior VP of Greenville Tech
  • Joined Greenville Tech in 1998 as Director of Continuing Education, promoted to VP for Corporate and Economic Development, and in 2004 named Executive VP
  • 25 years of manufacturing experience as Operations Manager for Kelmar Industries in Duncan, and with DowBrands in Mauldin as Site Manager, Operations Manager and Manager of Contract Operations
  • Serves on the Greenville County WIA Workforce Development Board

Roy Hawkins
USCOA International

  • President of USCOA International, a manufacturer of doormats
  • Oversees the daily operations of the Charleston sales office and the St. George manufacturing plant

Robert R. Hurst, Jr.
Phoenix Specialty Manufacturing Company

  • President of Phoenix Specialty Manufacturing Company, mid-size manufacturer of precision washers, shims and stampings
  • Company dates back to 1907, has been in family's ownership since 1925, and began manufacturing in South Carolina in 1966

Lou Krause
PBR Columbia

  • CFO for PBR Columbia, an international brake manufacturing company in Columbia
  • Previously with The Atlantic Research Corporation, an automotive supplier and defense manufacturer, as Director of Finance and Administration in Knoxville, TN, and the Toledo Edison Company, an electric utility in Toledo, OH.
  • Serves on the SC Energy Advisory Committee.

Barry Russell
State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education

  • President of the SC Technical College System, overseeing the state’s two-year technical colleges as well as occupational training for new and expanding business and industry via the Center for Accelerated Technology Training
  • Six years as President of Midlands Technical College in Columbia
  • Former Executive VP and COO for the NC Community College System and President of Southwestern Community College in Sylva, NC
  • Serves on the Board for the American Association of Community Colleges, and is a member of the Education and Economic Development Coordinating Council, the SC Council on Competitiveness, and the SC Technical College System Foundation

Dan Lilley
NIST MEP

    • Federal Program Officer for NIST MEP and an MEP Center Account Manager for multiple NIST MEP centers
