SCMEP

SCMEP, The South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership headquartered in Columbia, SC, is a not-for-profit organization that helps manufacturers throughout the state solve business and supply chain process problems. As an affiliate of the National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST) and partially funded by the State of South Carolina, the SCMEP offers business and technology assessments, engineering expertise and lean manufacturing solutions to South Carolina manufacturers in search of a single solution for supply chain synchronization and internal optimization processes.

The SCMEP provides this business and technology support to manufacturers through onsite consultations, partnerships with state technical colleges, research universities, and the S.C. Department of Commerce to provide educational programs, online assessment, an e-services portal, and other business tools. Using the SCMEP’s services enables manufacturers to see business benefits at a faster rate and enhances economic development in South Carolina.

SCMEP’s home office is in Columbia and another administrative office is located in the Upstate (Greenville) where there is a large number of small manufacturers. The Columbia office houses the Center’s administrative staff. The field offices are locations where partnered organizations have offices and dedicate staff to SMEs, are small offices for SCMEP’s remote field staff, or are offices that take advantage of donated office space.

The field offices are located at Aiken Technical College, Greenville Technical College, Midlands Technical College, Trident Technical College, Tri-County Technical College, Central Carolina Technical College, York Technical College, Clemson University and the University of South Carolina.
